Mona’s is an ungoing project in creating photographic portraits of my film actors. Me and my actors get to know each other in making film together and I keep these portraits of them as prints. In my work process there is, from the very start, a mix between the ‘natural’ reality, as me and the actors perceived it before we came in contact with each other, plus the direct interaction when we meet – ánd the reality of film making / of creating (which is a new natural reality that is then recorded). In this way the actors become persons who stage their reality of that particular moment. A character can develop in the process of film making and come back in following films (with the same actor or continue in a new actor).
The photo portraits are inspired by Italian Renaisance portrait paintings. For the Mona serie for the film A blue sky is blue due to scattering I used the three RGB colors of digital photography; magenta, yellow and cyan. Machinal color is important in this particular film. Mona’s is, in a subtle way, confronting a viewer with life, life as it is: pleasant and disturbing at the same time.
